We promote the conservation and growing of forest resources in a sustainable manner on family Forests
The Montana Tree Farm program is a non-profit organization affiliated with the National Tree Farm System and American Forest Foundation.
Our purpose is to help private forest landowners manage their lands with the goals of conserving forests, water, and wildlife while promoting natural resources based recreational opportunities. We support the responsible harvesting of renewable natural resources and the Montana Wood Products Industry.
If you have 10 acres or more of land that is forested or capable of supporting trees, you may become a member of the Montana Tree Farm program. The first step is to register below. As soon as a participating professional forester is available, you will be contacted to arrange a meeting on your property. You will need 1) a written management plan and 2) demonstrated sustainable forest practices on your property to become a certified Tree Farm. If you currently have neither of these, the contacting forester will help you prepare these and you may become a Pioneer Tree Farm. This is all provided at no cost to you, other than responsible forest management. The Tree Farm System is the oldest and only cost-free sustainable forestry certifying entity in existence.
